Representatives of Ngā Kaihanga Uku (Māori Clay Artists) and Hineukurangi (Emerging Māori Clay Artists) come together for a 10-day wānanga at Whakatū Marae, sharing knowledge and strengthening practice across both collectives. Engaging with the wider kaupapa of Nelson Clay Week, the collectives will host two community events alongside Whakatū Marae and iwi: quick "uku taster" workshops for community/school groups, and an open day, "Clay Te Pai Day," welcoming the wider public and local iwi while offering the opportunity to learn mātauranga Māori around uku.

This wānanga also provides a valuable space for practising whakawhanaungatanga across the diverse communities connected to Nelson Clay Week — nurturing and guiding cultural practice for indigenous and spiritual wellbeing.
